IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO SEEK MEDICAL ASSISTANCE TO PREVENT THE SYMPTOMS FROM EVOLVING, AND TO AVOID ANY INCREASING RISK OF THE VIRUS BECOMING FATAL TO THE PATIENT.
If you or any of your companions test positive for SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19), it is extremely important that you follow the following recommendations:
- If the test that came back positive was an Antigen test, you will need to take a confirmatory RT-PCR test.
- If the test that came back positive was an RT-PCR test you should:
- Isolate yourself and start a 14-day quarantine. The Government of Quintana Roo has at the disposal of travelers a website with complementary information on where to stay and what to do in case of a positive Covid-19 test (https://guestassist.mx/portal/es/Index.php)
- Seek medical assistance. You can contact DocTour for our medical staff to provide assistance and follow-up during this period.
- Rest, do not do any physical activity and eat as healthy as possible.
- Lie on your stomach for as long as possible and perform breathing exercises.
- Repeat the test (RT-PCR) after your 2 weeks of isolation and, a) If the test comes out negative, you will be able to travel back to your country without any problem, or b) If the test comes out positive again, the doctor(s) who treated you need(s) to write a letter stating that you were in isolation for 14 days under his/their supervision, and authorizing your return to your country of origin.
What does DocTour do when a patient tests positive for Covid-19?
Whenever there is a positive case of SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) DocTour has the responsibility to:
- Notify the corresponding medical and health authorities through epidemiological reports and reports to government authorities.
- Notify the patient about their result and guide them to follow the instructions of the Mexican government for cases of tourists with Covid-19.
- Provide, if the patient so wishes, assistance and medical follow-up during the period that the patient is with the virus.
What is the SARS CoV-2 RT-PCR or PCR Covid-19 Test?

What is the SARS CoV-2
Antigen or Antigen Covid-19 test?
- It is a test that detects the specific proteins of the virus.
- This test is taken with a nasopharyngeal (nasal) swab .
- Positive results are usually very accurate, but false positives can occur, especially in areas where very few people have the virus.
- The results are used to diagnose an active coronavirus infection .
- If you tested positive, it is mandatory to take a confirmatory test with an RT-PCR method.

How is the sample collection in children?
Our trained medical staff has performed a large number of tests on children under 5 years of age without any inconvenience or complaint from the children, so neither you, nor your family, should worry about the children safety during sample collection.
For children, our medical staff performs nasal sampling with a half-nose swab for a slightly longer time than normal, following the sampling protocols designated by national and international medical organizations and institutions, and thus avoiding a deep swab that might discomfort the minor.
How long does it take to get my results back?
PCR Tests - The results are sent between 36 to 48 hours
after the sample was taken.
Antigen Tests -
The results are sent the same day the sample was taken

Where I can see the results of my covid-19 tests?
The results of both tests (PCR and Antigen) are validated and sent via email in PDF format.
When do I need to make my Covid-19 Test reservation?
At DocTour we have an agenda subject to resources and supplies, so the Covid-19 Tests must be reserved with a minimum time of 24 hours before the Sample Collection.
How can I reschedule my appointment?
Rescheduling your Covid-19 Test has no cost as long as it is performed minimum 24 hours before the Sample Collection.
You can only reschedule your Sample Collection a maximum of 3 times.

The Antigen Tests administered by DocTour belong to either one of the following certified companies:
- STANDARD Q COVID-19 Ag / SD BIOSENSOR, Inc.
- Panbio™ COVID-19 Ag Rapid Test Device / Abbott Laboratories De México, S.A. De C.V.
- SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test Productos Roche, S.A. De C.V..
The PCR tests administered by DocTour are processed in the following certified laboratory:
All the tests we offer are approved by the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS), the Institute for Diagnosis and Epidemiological Reference (InDRE), and the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).
What is the Refund Policy in case of cancellation?
To request a refund it is important that you consider the following refund policy:
- 100% Refund if your cancellation is made within the first 48 hours after your payment.
- 50% Refund if your cancellation is made after the first 48 hours after your payment and up to 72 hours before your Sample Collection is scheduled.
- There are no refunds if your cancellation is made less than 72 hours before the Sample Collection is scheduled.
Is there a special promotion or prices for groups?
YES. If you are traveling in groups of more than 10 people, contact us and ask about our special prices for groups. We have discounts between 10% and 20% depending on the number of tests and the location where the samples will be taken.
When making the reservation please add an additional comment asking about our group prices. Our staff will send you the information about the discount that applies to your group.
